Role Description The Meter Reader role is a contract, remote position responsible for accurately collecting and recording meter data for electricity usage and related services. Day-to-day tasks include accessing meter information through approved tools and systems, documenting readings in line with company standards, and verifying data for completeness and accuracy. The role also involves communicating with internal teams and, when needed, with customers to clarify meter-related issues or service questions. Meter Readers are expected to follow safety and confidentiality guidelines, adhere to schedules and reporting deadlines, and promptly escalate any irregularities or suspected meter faults. This role requires consistent attention to detail and reliable, self-directed work in a remote environment.
Qualifications
Practical knowledge of meters and meter reading, including basic understanding of electricity usage and metering systems.
Strong communication and customer service skills to interact professionally with internal teams and customers when required.
Ability to use digital tools and software for data entry, record keeping, and remote reporting.
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to following established procedures and safety guidelines.
Reliable internet connection and capacity to work effectively in a remote, contract-based role.
Prior experience in utility services, field data collection, or similar roles is an advantage.
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training is beneficial.
