**Mechanical Design Engineer – Product Development**

## Educational Qualification

* Bachelor of Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

## Job Purpose

Support the complete product development lifecycle, from concept and design through prototyping, validation, and commercial production. Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative mechanical solutions, optimize product performance, reduce manufacturing costs, and ensure timely implementation of engineering changes while supporting intellectual property initiatives.

## Key Responsibilities

* Design, develop, and validate mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for new and existing products.
* Prepare engineering calculations, 3D models, 2D drawings, and technical documentation using CAD software.
* Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and service teams to implement product improvements and resolve technical issues.
* Analyze customer feedback and field issues to develop effective engineering solutions.
* Review Engineering Change Requests (ECR), Design Change Requests (DCR), and implement approved engineering modifications.
* Develop cost-effective design improvements to enhance product performance and reduce manufacturing costs.
* Support prototype development, pilot production, testing, and product commercialization activities.
* Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM), configurable product structures, and engineering documentation.
* Coordinate with external design partners, suppliers, and vendors for design support and component development.
* Participate in second-source development and component standardization initiatives.
* Create and maintain Engineering Change Orders (ECO), technical specifications, work instructions, and product documentation.
* Support electrical and multidisciplinary engineering teams in preparing BOMs and technical drawings.
* Validate new product designs through field testing, customer visits, and trial evaluations.
* Provide engineering support for production, customer service, spare parts, and after-sales activities.
* Contribute to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) implementation, engineering data migration, and document management.
* Monitor new technologies, competitor products, supplier innovations, and industry trends to improve product competitiveness.
* Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, ISO requirements, and organizational engineering processes.
* Support intellectual property activities, including innovation documentation and protection of engineering designs.

## Technical & Professional Requirements

* Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and machine design.
* Experience with 3D CAD modeling, drafting, and engineering drawing standards.
* Ability to perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and design validation.
* Experience preparing and managing Bills of Materials (BOM) and engineering documentation.
* Knowledge of Engineering Change Management (ECR, DCR, ECO) processes.
* Understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and engineering data management.
* Familiarity with manufacturing processes, fabrication, machining, sheet metal, and assembly techniques.
* Experience with product cost optimization and value engineering methodologies.
* Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
